Concept

Throughout the game, the player will have to deal with coming to terms with change. Having to move away permanently, the player is nervous and afraid of what’s ahead. The gameplay consists of driving, stopping at gas stations to talk to people, and continuing on the road until the player arrives at their new home. As the player drives further down the road, their connection to the people in the gas station decreases. The player is constantly faced with reflecting on how their home has shaped them. This causes them to be grateful for the experiences they’ve had and optimistic for their new home. Through the conversations the player has at the gas stations, the player can learn about who their character is and what they value. This new understanding allows the player to adapt to their new surroundings. When leaving the gas station, the player is left alone in the car as they drive to their next stop, where they reflect on what they experienced at the gas station. The conversations that the player has with these characters build on their growing acceptance of the move. Ultimately, the player reaches acceptance with the help of the gas station dialogue. Each gas station character is a representation of different outlooks on change, and these outlooks are reflected in the player’s final acceptance of change based on their dialogue choices.
